Koel Cafe, Karachi

Koel - went there the day before I flew home. Upon entering the outdoor seating looked fantastic with the trees, drapes and colorful table settings. I would give the ambiance and feel a good 10. We ordered the Paneer Tikka for starters and it was succulent but could be a little warmer. We got a side of tamarind sauce instead of olive salsa with it which was a beautiful combination. We ordered our entrées and starters together but it took them at least 30 minutes to bring the starters out with our shikanjabeens and another 30 or so for the entrees. Service was very slow, possibly because I felt like they were understaffed. 2 guys taking care of 7 tables, out of which 1 table had 20 women on. For our entrees I had the tomato stuffed chicken and it was great, told them to add a little spice to it as I usually like my food spicy. My wife ordered the grilled chicken with zesty prawns and her first comment was I wish we didn't wait so long for this. Mixed reviews but service was sub par, asked for water and the check and was surprised it took him 15 minutes to bring the latter out, never got water lol. All in all great to see an establishment like this in Karachi, after trying all the ghaffars, kaybees, chicken rolls and bun kababs it was a good way to take it on the heartburn. Being a photographer myself it was wonderful to see a cafe + gallery. I will be back as I truly believe not to judge by the first impression.

Location ,Food quality, service .value and atmosphere all are good.interior is out class .Staff is very friendly and deserves extra point .over all a good outlet for hangouts.

Cafe Koel is very appealing I love the interiors and the persons are friendly and quick service. I love the food too keep up the good work welldone guyz :)

Cafe Koel is quite aesthetically appealing but unfortunately my experience in terms of food has not been too good. I think it’ll make a great coffee place but not as fine-dining. I love the interiors and the crew is quite friendly too. If only they raise the bar on quality food, I think it’ll do great.

Koel Cafe depicts simplicity meets chic. They need to expand a bit, also focus on their promotions. They know 'Fine-dining' and dont mix it up with junk food. Staff was very friendly, knows exactly what you are looking to eat if some one is confused with the dishes. A Wifi hotspot that actually works. My advise would be lower down a cost and start working on the promotional activities. Also i love eating in outdoors in weekends afternoon, due to the weather, we couldnt eat at outside area of Koel cafe.. do some cooling arrangements for outside dinners....

Had dinner last New Year's Eve, Food was good and desert even better, really liked discrete location and the outdoor seating and the fact that a decent restaurant was open when authorities had closed just about any joint.
