Went out with my wife last night, and found the service to be excellent and decor tasteful. Food was simple (which is the hard to do), flavorsome and homely - we loved the stuffed mushrooms and the classic burchetta for starters. They were full of delicate flavors and aromatics. This was followed by seared red snapper and feta, spinach and chicken thin crust pizza along with fresh orange juice and bitter leomon for drinks - had to pass on the desert as we were both feeling quite full - all in all it cost us around 1700 per head for an excellent meal and an amazing night out!

Just love their Garlic Mayo Chips, amazing value and taste! They also do chicken burgers and hot dogs.

Priced at 750 including tax per person is an excellent, authentic and thoughtfully done Gujarati and Rajistani restaurant. We went there on a whim and enjoyed the tasting menu full of exotic vegetarian dishes and a few with chicken in them. I loved the whole ritual of washing hands in rose water, the prompt service, the Chass (lasi) Dum Pukth Keema (made out of beans) and Puris.

Was there at the opening and have visited with friends last few weeks for Sheesha. The outdoor sitting (what used to be the vip car park right of the main entrance) is comfortable and service quite friendly. The sheesha is decent enough but only comes with the two unorthodox packages (Rs. 850 to 1100) where you also have to order shawarma and some other edibles served from MarcoPolo. They have some decent Arabic coffee and dates as complimentary with either package. Second sheesha on any package is Rs. 450.

Posted on : February 03, 2013 Cafe Cilantro
Went there with friends on a couples night out, the decor and ambiance was cozy and welcoming, we sat on the mezzanine deck for a private dinner. Except our group there was one other couple. The service was superb, we started with the clear and Korean soups and a plate of nachos. The soups were good and the nacho's tasted heavenly though the tortilla chip count was low. For mains we went for americano steak, beef stake with eggs, caramalised onions, a baked spud and sauteed vegetables in peppercorn sauce. The presentation was excellent, all the plating was done beautifully and the sauteed vegetables were delicious but they could not save us from the bad night out. The beef was of real low quality and the sauce was off, the whole main and the nigth took a different turn. Cilantro opened last week, they really need to work on their food.

Average Sheesha - Costs around 650 + tax, though the tea and movenpick ice cream is nice. The fanoos becomes an okay place to lounge at times, specially when you are in the vicinity.

Went to Kolachi for a family dinner last weekend - this was my second visit (first visit was there opening week earlier this year) and things had improved quite a lot, it looks like the management took notice of the comments I made on FCPakistan in my review. We stuck to Pakistani dishs especially from the chef's home - mumtu, hunzai handi, Lahori fish and mutton saji which we had with garlic nans and transitional raita. They were out of deserts which was a bummer after an excellent meal. Will go there again.

Posted on : October 23, 2012 Gun Smoke
Gun Smoke is one of the first proper restaurants to open at Dolman Mall Clifton, as to cafes or deserts parlor. Never been to the original Gun Smoke joint in Zamzama, but can see the wisdom in the management’s decision to relocate to Dolman Mall. The one of a kind mall offers ample parking (a big problem in Zamzamma) and mall’s novelty alone is a big attraction guaranteed to increase diners for the restaurants there. I visited Dolmen Mall with the explicit purpose of dining at the newly opened Gun Smoke one recent weekend; This was my first attempt, it was made in a group of four, my friend, his wife, his younger brother and yes not to forget; yours truly. To my utmost shock were quite rudely barred entry by the man at the door, he asked as to wait for 40 odd minutes (time that we could not spear) although just behind him we could see a bunch of vacant tables. This man was dressed form head to toe in black as an executor and we felt like the victims. I think they were taking the whole western theme too seriously. Not giving up easily I made my way back just a couple of days later on a weekday, finding comfort in the numbers I moved up to the doors again, this time as a pack of six: four gents and two ladies. To my utmost surprise we were welcomed quite gracefully and were promptly seated. Someone in the management finally realized how to treat customer’s right! About time I say too! A decent sized bar door welcomes you into the spacious interior, all walls have dark paneling and shutter windows looking out into the mall, with guns (which looked quite real to me) mounted on hinges atop the windows. The vintage model planes, tanks, old automobiles and bright orange bikes with shiny trims hanging from the roof give the place a nostalgic yet funky look. The largest dry wall is covered in the iconic sun behind the rider’s scene and there are large cactus plants (albeit fake) in the center of the salad bar. One look and you can tell that this place means business; I could not help but get an appetite for red meat. The place was buzzing with people and the atmosphere had a relaxed soul. Our table was well lit and seating quite comfortable. We were served by one of the cow boys. The entire place follows the old western theme, waiting staff included all of them were smartly dressed up as cow boys, they all had old western hats, jeans, boots some supported shiny sheriff badges (these turned out to be the supervisors). This guy was very courteous, knew the menu and for fresh change, actually waited on us in heavy contrast too. Starters I skipped any starters, though my friend had ordered soup from salad bar he also made a salad and bread selections, the two soups available on the day were aptly vegetation roasted tomato and potato He has the roasted potato, the soup was reasonably. The combination of salads, with the mains is a novel idea. But the salad section was uninspired and lacked creativity. They can increase the variety specially the vegetables and bread selection. Mains Baby Back Ribs Diving straight into the main’s I ordered the Baby Back Ribs, they turned out to be quite nice. The char-grilled mutton chops with the overnight BBQ marinade proved to be juicy, succulent and quite scrumptious. I found the whole burnt ends and kick ass BBQ sauce quite mouth-watering, I would've happily eaten half a dozen plates. For Beverages I ordered the classic. Coke from the foundation with lots of ice, and our waiter even served us a free refill. My friend ordered the burger, he found it the coleslaw quite creamy and meat patty very succulent and tasty all in a good balance of white bun. Deserts There is not much to write about home on the deserts front, one expects a fuller menu after a hearty meal, the deserts on display at the salad bar were: Verdict Perhaps expectation turned out to be the best friend for Gun Smoke in this case; In this case I was expecting to be disappointed but was quite pleasantly surprised. Although it’s far from healthy food and the service started off a little off the mark I had worthwhile and well-rounded dining experience. My verdict - Gun Smoke will perhaps become one of my favorite casual dining places when I am longing for red meat: steaks, burgers and ribs.

Just an okay place, nice basement decor but average food and gets quite smokey, probably for a younger crowd.

Posted on : October 23, 2012 Charcoal BBQ N Grill
One of the 12 Restaurants on the Do Darya belt. Been to Charcoal Grill a number of times found the Nachos, Sheesha and starter platter decent enough, other then that it's a real hit or miss.

Posted on : October 22, 2012 Gon Pacci
Went with my wife and a few friends last Saturday, the atmosphere was pretty relaxed and service satisfactory, for starters we ordered the bruschetta and prawns. For my main I had the lamb shanks with potato mash and gravy. The food was quite rich in flavor, brilliantly presented with good portion size, my favorite was the Chocolate pudding (warm lava cake oozing dark chocolate). The custom drinks can get better. All in all Gon Pacci met and surpassed expectations.

Nearest food delivery to our offices in DHA, okay food and quite affordable for office lunches.

Go there often, have a hit and miss scenario there but always with generous serving size. Some food dishes are interesting and taste well like the fried southern entrees, cheese sicks etc. while other dishes like pasta can be improved, found the service to be good, have taken quite a few interviews there, the waiters are courteous and quite professional.

Went in Ramadan twice with friends to avail their amazing 3 course meal deal. Like always the service and ambiance was at par and quite relaxing. I just love the tucked away banglow feel and causal dining atmosphere with fine food. They had a select menu each time for the 3 course meal and other then a hiccup with my steak which I had to order again the food tasted well and cream burlee topped each time.

Went after a while with a lady friend of mine, enjoyed the company and the food. It is delicious, Hassan and his team are doing a wonderful job, they have updated their cutlery to white chine bowls from the space age ones from my last few visits. My advice to them stick with the prices, quantity, atmosphere, service. Hands down my favorite Chinese place in Karachi.

Have ordered delivery a number of times now due to them being on FCPK, they deliver fast and pizza's for what they charge are not bad though not the way I like them, the reason I end up ordering is from them is that they are open till late, even after 1 pm on a weekday and on strike eve like yesterday when everything around them was closed. The super supreme in any size is their best though much spicier I believe they should also serve garlic butter. For first time try their new Sunset deal.

Like the fact that it's close to my home and has a decent atmosphere and family friendly, had a late night snack consisting of a single course with a friend. He had bon bon chicken and I had tangerine chicken, the serving was generous and food tasted good. There coffee machine was out of ordered so ordered a mocha I believe, found it to be too creamy. The service was not bad but pan stains on waiter teeth is not a pleasant site, all in all 7 out of 10.

Posted on : August 14, 2012 Okra
Went for Iftar followed by dinner a couple of weeks back, they had an Olympic theme around the restaurant, starting with the olympic flag posted outside, the place gives the feel of an old cozy cafe, the iftar platter was quite unique with selection of pre-cut fruit for example lemon juice squeezed on apple. The bread basted was probably the best I have had in Pakistan, they even had a crisp bread shaped like the five Olympic rings. The mezza starter platter was almost for 10 people, given the amount of mezzas they had on it. Hummas was bland but baba ganoush and a tomato based mezza that I don’t remember the name was quite strong in taste. I ordered the lamb shanks with saffron risotto, it was served quite well with a generous serving of both the lamb shank and the risotto, the risotto looked appetising and the lamb shank was tender to the bone but too my disappointment both tasted quite bland. All in all the Okra did not live up to my expectations but willing to try something else as my friends really liked there caesarsalad there.

Posted on : August 14, 2012 Gourmet Burger Company
Ordered the classic burger after iftar today previously had the blue cheese burger, garlic mayo fries and chocolate crepe. The delivery takes slightly longer than stated on the phone. The burgers are not bad with the a thick juicy meat Pattie and fresh vegies, the onion is crisp and just the way I like it in the burger but the fries are average at best and the crepe was too soft and chocolate nutella was dripping off it. All in all not bad for once in a while burger craving!
